Nadeen N. Risi, MS, RDN, LDN is a Registered Dietitian at Avance Primary Care with the Commission on Dietetic Registration in Cary, North Carolina.
She finished her undergraduate degree in nutrition from North Carolina Central University where she continued into the dual master’s and internship program and received her Master of Human and Health sciences focusing on nutrition. After graduating, she started counseling one-on-one in an outpatient setting focusing on weight management as well as chronic disease management. She has been focusing on developing her counseling skills with plans to get her certification in adult weight management as well as becoming a certified diabetes educator.
Her passion for nutrition started when her passion for fitness increased. There is a connection between physical activity and weight management that impacted not only her own personal life but the lives of the individuals she surrounded herself with. Her passion lies with being able to use the experiences she has had in addition to the knowledge she possesses in counseling other individuals with the goals they would like to achieve whether that is weight specific or disease specific. She truly believes that food can be medicine and aid us to live a healthier lifestyle.
In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants in the Raleigh and Durham area and experiencing different cuisines. She spends most of her time outside of work either working out with Camp Gladiator and training for their annual competition or playing outside with her three dogs, Harley, Diesel, and Gunner.
