Travis earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. He then completed a Master of Science in Applied Intelligence Studies at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, in 2009. In 2023, he returned to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to obtain his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.
Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Travis worked as a national security intelligence analyst in Washington, D.C., and held various seasonal positions with the U.S. Antarctic Program. His interest in medicine began during his time in Antarctica, where he volunteered with the medical auxiliary team and the winter search and rescue team. In 2019, he permanently moved back to North Carolina, working as an EMT in the Raleigh-Durham area before attending PA school.
Travis’ care philosophy is driven by two main principles: prevention and patient relationships. He strongly believes in the importance of preventative primary care for promoting good health and enhancing patients’ quality of life. He aims to establish strong, trust-based relationships with his patients, emphasizing inclusivity, patient autonomy, dignity, and shared decision-making.
Outside of work, Travis enjoys rock and ice climbing, mountaineering, reading, traveling (he has visited all seven continents!), volunteering with community environmental and animal rescue groups, exploring North Carolina’s natural, culinary, and artistic treasures, and spending time with his partner and their two fluffy cats. He is also a member of the North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants.
