Sarah Woodruff, FNP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She attended Case Western Reserve University for her bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minor in sociology and graduated summa cum laude. Sarah has worked in over 7 teaching hospitals in 4 states in multiple specialties ranging from pediatrics, post-op, pulmonology, gynecology, hematology-oncology, and internal medicine prior to returning to her education. She attended University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her Master of Science in Nursing and graduated as a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
After graduating, Sarah primarily worked in community health center settings encompassing broad family practice, ranging from newborn care to managing complex elderly patients with multiple co-morbidities. In 2015, she moved into the lead provider position within her clinic where she contributed to medical policy making and clinic practices to better patient care throughout the organization. Her philosophy on providing clinical care is based in relationship with her patients. She believes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and loves to discuss preventive care. She has a special interest in addiction medicine. Sarah is also fluent in Spanish.
Sarah and her husband live in Durham with their 3 children, 1 dog, and multiple fish. They enjoy the Durham bulls, movies, bike riding, swimming, traveling, and attending various functions and games with their children in the community. Outside of career and family, Sarah is involved in local domestic violence advocacy work.
