Rachael Metzger, LCMHC, CEAP (She/Her/Hers) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor serving patients at Avance Care’s Behavioral Health at Center of Excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Rachael earned her Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ohio State University. She brings over 10 years of experience in counseling, having worked in both community mental health settings and Employee Assistance Programs.
Rachael specializes in supporting individuals who identify under the Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) umbrella. This includes those who are LGBTQIA+, transgender, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and non-monogamous. She also focuses on helping clients manage Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety. In addition, she has experience working with individuals navigating depression, mood disorders, grief and bereavement, self-esteem challenges, relationship conflicts, and major life transitions.
Her approach combines evidence-based practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Rachael’s work is grounded in a person-centered philosophy, guided by curiosity, authenticity, and compassion. She believes in the strength of a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship and strives to empower her clients to explore their values, recognize their strengths, and embrace their worth.
