Lara Quinlivan, PA-C, MPH is a Primary Care Provider and board-certified Physician Assistant at Avance Care’s doctor’s office in West Cary, North Carolina.
Lara is originally from rural Oregon and now based in southern Wake County. She received her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and afterward spent time traveling and volunteering internationally. This inspired her to get her Master’s in Public Health at Emory University where she focused on International Health and health education. She worked additional years internationally, mostly in Thailand and Guatemala, then felt inspired to come back to the U.S. and work with the underserved here in NC in women’s health and non-profit health management. Mid-career, missing the passion of working directly with patients and the science and intrigue of medicine, Lara went back to school to become a Physician Assistant and graduated from Duke University with a Masters in Physician Assistant studies. She has been working in primary care and urgent care in rural communities around the triangle prior to starting at Avance Care.
Lara is committed to working in primary care so she can build relationships, educate patients and keep patients healthy for years to come. She strives to utilize her prior skills in health education and her years of global and rural experiences to collaborate with patients to make informed decisions about their health and well-being, as well as promote preventative medicine. She is passionate about educating patients and believes in treating the whole patient, realizing all aspects of your physical, mental and social well-being affect your health daily. She enjoys working with people of all ages and cultures and using her Spanish skills whenever needed.
Lara enjoys spending time with her family. Together they enjoy doing all types of outdoor activities including camping, canoeing, skiing, biking, hiking and playing sports. as well as gardening and finding projects around the house. As a family, they love both the mountains and the ocean and enjoy traveling internationally, exploring new cultures, and visiting family across the U.S.
