Lakinta Garner, MSW, LCSWA is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate providing care at Avance Behavioral Health at Centers of Excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Lakinta graduated from the University of North Carolina Greensboro in 2020, earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In 2022, she went on to obtain her Master of Social Work from UNCG and NC A&T State University’s Joint MSW Program. During her time in Greensboro, she gained clinical experience in various settings including primary care clinics, college programs serving the IDD population, and homeless shelters. Lakinta has experience working with individuals, groups, adults, adolescents, teens, and college students in the following areas: depression, anxiety, self-esteem, stress management, life/school adjustments, romantic/social relationships, behavioral issues, and other mental health needs.
Lakinta’s philosophy as a Behavioral Therapist and Mental Health Advocate is to help clients create positive and long-lasting changes. She actively listens to and works with her clients at their own pace to ensure that they reconnect and become active participants in their lives and communities. Lakinta uses a variety of evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, and Mindfulness, tailored to each client’s individual needs.
Lakinta was born and raised in Halifax, NC but now lives in Raleigh with her fiancé and son. Lakinta enjoys spending time with her family and best friend, reading, listening to music, shopping, and trying new restaurants.
