Doris Nicolas-Mir, MPH, RDN, LDN, CDCES is a Registered Dietitian at Avance Primary Care in Clayton, North Carolina.
She is registered with the Commission on Dietetics Registration and is a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education.
Doris completed her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics at Florida International University and went on to pursue a Master of Public Health at the University of Miami. While at the university she started her career in the nutrition program of the Women’s Health Initiative clinical trial. After the trial was completed, she worked as a nutritionist with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, where she developed an interest in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
In 2007, Doris relocated to North Carolina. Since her move, she has worked at Johnston Health in Smithfield and Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine in Raleigh and was a diabetes educator with Novo Nordisk. Her goal when working with patients is to work as a team to help them meet their health and nutrition goals. She feels strongly that there is no one-size-fits-all approach and strives to customize a nutrition plan that works for the patient.
Doris lives in Clayton with her husband, Lester, and children, Sophia, Olivia, and Jonathan. When she is not cheering on her kids at their sporting activities, she enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and watching college football.
