Christen Cox, LCMHC is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Behavioral and Mental Health Therapist with Avance Primary Care.
She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina Wilmington, and later completed her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling through The College of Science and Health at Webster University in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina and South Carolina. She has ten years of counseling experience and has worked with teenagers, young adults, and middle-aged and senior populations.
Christen specializes in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, ADD, relationship difficulties, interpersonal conflicts, adjustment disorders, stress, and time management. Her approach to counseling is based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, and Reality Therapy Theories. She provides counseling services in the mornings, evenings, and weekends. The delivery of her services include, but not limited to individual counseling, family, and/or group counseling.
Christen believes Psychotherapy is a partnership built on trust, and though change can be difficult, it can become a little easier with the right tools and support. Using a holistic approach to psychotherapy, she attempts to help individuals change negative behaviors, set and accomplish personal goals, and help them work out debilitating issues that keep them from reaching their full potential.
