Aurora Dixon, LCMHC, LPC, NCMC, CCTP, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Provider at Avance Care Behavioral Health, part of the Centers of Excellence in Raleigh, North Carolina.

She holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling Psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and brings over 20 years of experience as an individual therapist. Aurora specializes in treating depression, anxiety, and trauma, working with children, adolescents, and adults.

Aurora’s therapeutic approach is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and is both holistic and client-centered. She customizes her techniques to address the specific needs and values of each client, guiding them toward improved well-being and healing. Aurora incorporates CBT thought analysis, behavioral strategies, solution-focused goal setting, EMDR, DBT, mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and art and play therapy into her practice.

Originally from North Texas, Aurora now lives in Durham with her husband of 28 years. They have three adult children. In her free time, Aurora enjoys hiking, creative projects, reading, and tabletop games. She also values spending time with God, friends, and family in the Triangle area, the mountains, and occasionally visiting loved ones back in Texas.
